Raw herbs are identified and tested for contaminants before decoction, followed by low temperature vacuum concentration; this prevents the loss of active constituents under high temperature. A special technique insures that the essential oils are maintained in the end product.

Sun Ten Pharmaceutical Co. was founded by Dr. Hong-yen Hsu (1917-1991). Dr. Hsu was born in central Taiwan, he earned his Ph.D. in Pharmacy from Kyoto University of Japan in 1955. After returning home, Dr. Hsu was appointed as Director of Food and Drug Control Board by Taiwan Health Department, and has been a professor of pharmacy at National Taiwan University, Taipei Medical College, China Medical College, and Chinese Culture University.
Dr. Hsu has devoted his whole life to research and modernization of Chinese herbal medicines. His research findings were published in 255 articles in scholarly journals, 36 books in Chinese, and 23 books in English. Dr. Hsu’s dedication and pioneering spirit have earned him the reputation as the “Father of Scientific Chinese Herbal Medicine”.

1992 - GMP certification by Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration(TGA),
1996 - Began exporting to Malaysia as registered drug products.
1997 - Sun Ten Herbal Extracts Approved by American Specialty Health Project
(ASHP) as reimbursable prescriptions.
1999 - Received ISO 9002 certification from BSI for quality assurance standard
2000 - SunTen Phytotech Co., Ltd. is established for developing new botanical
drugs.
2001 - Collaborated with PhytoCeutica Co. (USA) for an anti-cancer auxiliary drug,
IND submission with USFDA, currently in Clinical Trial Phase IIa stage.
- Contracted by Phytopharm Inc. (UK) to manufacture an eczema herbal
medicine for clinical trials in Europe.
2002 - ISO 9000 certification by BSI.
- Winner of Second Drug Technology Research Development Award sponsored
by Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs.
- New cardiovascular botanical drug (SB221) developed by SunTen Phytotech
received grant by Ministry of Economic Affairs in “Development of New
