Used as a powder, confection, decoction, milk decoction. Relative to the sweet potato, it is commonly used as a general tonic and in hoarseness of voice, cough, enlarged liver and diminished lactation. The early Sanskrit writers mentioned it under the names 'Vidari' and 'Bhumi-Kushmanda'. In the Nighantas, it has several synonyms. It was part of the composition of several diuretic and demulcent mixtures. In the Konkan region of India, the root was peeled, cut in to small pieces and dried for use as an aphrodisiac. The 'Susruta' gave several prescriptions for its use as an aphrodisiac. It is recommended for emaciation in children. It enters into the composition of a compound decoction, which is nutritive, diuretic and expectorant, and useful in fevers and bronchitis. Powdered root is given for diseases of the spleen and liver, for menorrhagia, debility and fat accumulation. There is no adverse effect reported on the use of this plant.

All incoming raw materials are thoroughly tested before they are released for use in Bazaar of India’s products. Quality checks continue throughout the various stages of manufacturing, as well as at the completion of production.

We perform extensive Bacteria testing, Mold and Yeast testing, E. coli testing, and Salmonella testing.

We also test herb quality using Organoleptic ID testing, Microscopy, & Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC).

Foreign materials are tested using high temperature ash testing. We do not hesitate to reject inferior herbs, thus ensuring consistent high quality.
